2024.10.25   Languages   For all those assembly beginners, who want to learn to use this programming language on Windows 64bit, my tutorial Windows 64bit assembly programming by example might be what they are looking for. The first part of the tutorial, Numbers and arrays, has been published. In 14 program samples (plus 3 "real world" examples) it deals with the following: Integer and floating point arrays, arrays passed to and modified in a procedure, print-out of an array, sorting of an array, two-dimensional arrays, random numbers.

2024.09.21   OS/2   New program downloads available. The "Eigenvalues" ZIP archive contains an OS/2 command line version (source + executable) of my "Eigenvalues" Free Pascal GUI application. The "ReadCon" ZIP archive contains the Free Pascal source code of a custom unit intended to replace Readln() on OS/2 (work-around of the Readln related bug in the Crt unit).

2024.09.15   DOS   New program download available. The "Blackjack" ZIP archive contains the DOS version (source + executable) of my "blckjack" Free Pascal console program.

2024.09.14   DOS   New tutorial available: Exotic programming languages for DOS - Caml Light and OCaml. The tutorial describes the installation and usage of Caml Light for DOS 0.7 and OCaml 1.0 for DOS on FreeDOS.

2024.09.04   Windows   New tutorial available: Modern COBOL development using Microfocus Visual COBOL. The tutorial shows how to install a 1-year trial version of Microfocus Visual COBOL for Visual Studio on Windows 11 and how to proceed to build native command line programs, object-oriented command line programs, and Windows GUI applications using the COBOL programming language.

2024.08.11   Windows   New tutorial available: Mixing Fortran and C programming with GCC. Not really a tutorial about mixed C and Fortran programming. It's primarily a series of simple examples, that show how a GCC function can be called by a GFortran program, resp. how a GFortran subroutine or function can be called by a GCC program.

2024.05.31   Windows   New tutorial available: Developing FreeBASIC applications on Windows 10. It contains details about the installation and usage of FreeBASIC, CSED_FB (FreeBASIC IDE), FBMath (FreeBASIC mathematics library), about accessing the Windows API, and about VisualFBEditor (FreeBASIC RAD environment). It also includes the description (GUI design, source code) of a simple project (Windows desktop application), created with VisualFBEditor.

2024.05.22   Windows   New tutorial available: Using Sublime Text as IDE for GCC/GFortran development. It includes details about the installation of MSYS2 (with the UCRT64 GCC and GFortran toolchains), the built of C/C++ and Fortran programs in the terminal, the installation of Sublime Text (with the required packages for use with Fortran), the build of C/C++ programs in Sublime Text, and the creation of a new GFortran build system (as the default one does not work correctly).
